Ohrl has found Na’ilah’s ship. On an island consumed by the Dead, the final stone is within his grasp. Yet whispers still drift across the wind, his growing madness threatening to claim his mind. Certain that Na’ilah is still alive, Ohrl must find a way to control the Dead before it’s too late, but within the island, few of the Living are left to consume.

Marooned with Elsa, Mihja, Terttu and Loviisa, Na’ilah begins her hunt for the last stone. Desperate to reach Izz al-Din’s tomb alone, she is mocked by the priest for her failure, for the Dead are too many and too strong. Only by combining her strength with the brothers of Brúnn can her birthright be claimed, yet all three know that only one mind can return. It is the unification Kjat’s Eternals have been waiting for. To resurrect the weapon of the Kjatmi’ir and begin their assault upon the East, their carefully crafted whispers have set all pieces in place.

As Faerl unites the Uradji with Wahid, as Jökull and Yngve stake their claim within Nazh-rndu’ul, Keysa and her companions arrive in Burghat, desperate to bring Faerl his only chance of surviving the unification within the Weave. Protected by women of the Red Road, they connect with the Emissary of Sira’an. For Salumah has come with a message. Sattah has spoken. To save Johsala, Wahid must be allowed in, but Kha’atib is in no mind to relinquish control just yet. He questions the Third Ring’s true intent, for Wahid has gathered the Armies of the East. With Faerl by his side, Wahid will sweep across the desert like a great haboob devouring the light of dawn’s blood, but it may not be enough, for if the Dead rise, if Ohrl or Na’ilah return, it is a war the Living cannot survive. Not only is control over Life and Death at stake, but the very source of the Weave, an end game planned for a thousand years by al-Din’s treacherous priests.

Whispers of a Red Dawn
